The new RM 27-02 is a sporty tourbillon watch designed by Richard Mille specifically for tennis player Rafael Nadal. It not only features an ultra-lightweight case but also boasts exceptional stability to withstand the immense acceleration of a ball's impact—a watch worn by South African athlete Wayde van Niekerk in the men's 400-meter sprint final at the Rio Olympics, where he crossed the finish line to win the gold medal. Inspired by racing car chassis, Richard Mille integrated the skeletonized mainplate of the movement with the case, significantly enhancing its shock resistance. To further enhance the watch's lightness, Richard Mille collaborated with North Thin Ply Technology to develop a durable and wear-resistant ultra-lightweight quartz fiber material for the case, making the entire watch feel like a sheet of paper and exhibiting a rugged Damascus steel-like texture. The entire movement is clearly visible through the crystal. A floating tourbillon is located at 6 o'clock, and Richard Mille's exclusive high-speed rotating mainspring barrel at 12 o'clock provides a power reserve of up to 52 hours, with a 20% increase in energy efficiency on the initial winding. The white bezel is secured to the case with 12 grade 5 titanium screws, complemented by an orange strap and a red crown. To enhance readability, the tips of the hour and minute hands are highlighted with a bright orange-yellow. The RICHARD MILLE RM 27-02 watch features a full carbon fiber case, sapphire crystal case back, carbon fiber dial, floating tourbillon movement, 19 jewels, 1-hour power reserve, woven strap, titanium buckle, and 50-meter water resistance. Complication: Tourbillon.
